چکیده
The notion of a “biobased economy” in the context developing country such as South Africa (SA) necessitates development technologies that utilize sustainable feedstocks, have simple and robust operations, are feasible at small scale produce variety valuable bioproducts, thus fitting biorefinery concept. This case study focuses on microbial production higher-value products from selected organic waste streams abundant African agricultural sector using microbes adapted to different parts biomass streams. A ruminant-based carboxylate platform based mixed or undefined anaerobic co-cultures rumen microorganisms can convert carbohydrate polymers lignocellulosic part carboxylic acids be upgraded biofuels green chemicals. Furthermore, yeast fungi simpler carbohydrates (such sugars malic acid grape apple pomace) ethanol high-value acids, lactic, fumaric, succinic citric acid. review will discuss combinational use ruminal native recombinant yeasts valorize through with various applications.

IMMOBILIZATION OF MICROBIAL CELLS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF ORGANIC ACIDS
Techniques of immobilization of microbial- cells have been established by multifunctional reagents such as glutaraldehyed on a solid support. Immobilized cell reactor was designed to demonstrate stability of cross linking of whole cells for the production of organic acids. An eighty-six percent conversion of glucose was obtained for an eight hour retention time. The immobilized cell reacto...
متن کاملAcidogenic Fermentation Towards Valorisation of Organic Waste Streams into Volatile Fatty Acids
Anaerobic digestion (AD) has been applied over the years for the treatment of a wide variety of organic streams. The advantages of this process over other biological treatments relate mainly to the low cost of bioreactors operation, when compared to aerobic processes, since AD-based treatments offer a cost-effective solution for the treatment of high-strength organic wastes, through economic re...
متن کاملSolid-State Fermentation as a Novel Paradigm for Organic Waste Valorization: A Review
The abundance of organic solid waste throughout the world has become a common issue that needs complete management at every level. Also, the scarcity of fuel and the competition between food and substance as an alternative to a petroleum-based product has become a major problem that needs to be properly handled. An urge to find renewable substances for sustainable development results in a strat...
متن کاملBiotechnology for aerobic conversion of food waste into organic fertilizer.
A biotechnology for aerobic conversion of food waste into organic fertilizer under controlled aeration, stirring, pH and temperature at 55-65 degrees C, is proposed. To maintain neutral pH at the beginning of the bioconversion 5% CaCO3 was added to the total solids of the food waste. The addition of 20% horticultural waste compost as a bulking agent to the food wastes (w.w./w.w.), improved the ...

Using dog food as a model of the organic waste, thermophilic composting was carried out for 14 days at a fixed temperature of 60 degrees C. The relationship between organic matter decomposition measured by CO2 evolution during the bio-stabilization process and microbial succession expressed as the changes over time in the restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) patterns of 16S rDNA sequ...
